School Inquiry Project Reflection

The School Inquiry Project provided you the opportunity to consider data on a number of schools in Wisconsin.Β  The goal of this project was to develop your understanding of the complex and diverse nature of the schools in our communities.Β

For this post, please share your top five insights from this experience?Β

  1. I learned a lot about different schools in Brown County and all around Wisconsin
  2. I learned there were different types of schools that have different goals to teach students
  3. I learned that there was a definite dip in academics in 2020-2021 because of Covid
  4. I learned about the differences of reporting data for private and public schools
  5. Through group work, I was able to get closer to my classmates.

Β What did you find meaningful about this project?Β

I found this project meaningful because I was able to learn about all the different data that make up a school. This will especially help me later on when I’m trying to find out where to go to work as a teacher. Through this project I was able to learn about the differences from private schools, charter schools, community schools, public schools, and many other types of schools. I was also able to grow in friendship with a couple of my classmates through the group work. I also found it cool that we confirmed that Covid had a definite impact on the school system through looking at the DPI report cards for each school. Overall, I think that this project was a very good research project.

  1. As you consider what kind of schools best support students needs, could you envision a “tech” magnet/charter school that used preparation for careers in technology as a way to connect HS students to the curriculum?
